Division of Wildlife
Annual Kids' Ice Fishing Day
Avery Reservoir

February 28th, 2009

The Colorado Sportsmen Wildlife Fund assisted the Division of Wildlife at Avery Reservoir near Meeker with their annual kids ice fishing day. CSWF members traveled from Grand Junction on February 28, 2009 to drill lots of holes for the 50 kids that showed up to fish.

Fishing was extremely slow because a cold front that rolled through the day before. Unfortunately, there was only one fish landed, but the kids had a great time watching for fish on the depthfinders. A few were sighted, but none took the bait.

The Division provided hot chocolate and doughnuts to keep the kids warm and full of energy.

Both kids and instructors had a great time. CSWF is looking forward to helping with next years event.
